October 27, 2012-

This was all caused by a series of aftershocks in the 5.0-6.8 range following a major 7.7 earthquake.
Update 2257 PST-
In this image of a seismograph from the northern part of the San Francisco bay area, one can see the strength of the seismic wave generated by the 7.7. This wave took only about 8 minutes to reach the northern part of California and began rattling the fault lines all along the west coast. Now is a great time to double check all preparedness plans and make sure that they would be able to be in affect at this time of night an year.
Update 2321 PST-
According to WeatherBug.com and NOAA weather there are Tsunami warnings issued as far south as Flumeville, Ca. and Fort Bragg, Ca. Any coastal towns along the west coast of the USA and Canada that geographically face NE should be on high alert and avoid being too close to the coast for the next 8-12 hours. Also any coastal areas that have a small marina or inlet that may amplify the waves should see to it that no residents attempt to rescue their boats in this time. Wait for the waves to pass.
