Earthquake Risk For Bay Area: Small 3.4 in Pacific

March 9th, 2013

There was a sizable 3.4 earthquake early in the AM in the pacific ocean off the coast of the Bay Area and the San Andreas fault line. There were a few smaller 2.0 aftershocks located in the same area.

With this seismic activity, and other geological signs, has issued their own alert for a possible 4.7 to strike the San Francisco Bay Area in the next 72 hours. Their last report did not hold the weight that was expected, yet there was some small seismic activity corresponding with the data.

According to the chart above San Francisco hasn’t been at this high of risk all year for an event to occur. With this morning’s movement and a series of faults over due, now would be the appropriate time to become prepared with foods, water, medical supplies, toiletries, camping gear, and simple kits to help you live away from your home for days to weeks. Stay safe all.
